How can you enjoy pasta without guilt?

Simple, you enjoy it :)

This blog post is sponsored by Barilla. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, I love all foods. Well except pollo guisado, but more on that another day haha. I absolutely love pasta [AD] second to white rice, and when barilla asked me to team up I was so excited. Pasta gets a bad rep. Because diet culture has tricked us into believing all white carbs are bad. There’s the constant movie snarky comment that tells ya the pasta is gonna go to your booty. Or that just by staring at it you’ll gain X amount of pounds. It’s all exaggerated and not true.

Pasta is made from enriched semolina flour that contains so many nutrients like folate and iron. A serving of pasta can provide you 50% of your daily value of folate, 10% of your daily value of iron, and 12% of your daily fiber intake. Pasta is simple and nutritious. And not to mention it gives us fiber, which we all know is super important for digestion. I know that there is a lot of wonky information out there about refined grains being bad for you, but the recommendation has always been that both refined and whole grains have a place on our plate. So much so that the Dietary Guidelines for Americans  suggest that you should split your day 50/50 between whole grains and refined grains.

Not only does pasta provide iron, folate, and fiber, it also provides you with B vitamins that are essential for your body. In fact, folate is a B vitamin that is known to help reduce birth defects. Barilla has more than 35 shapes of pasta to choose from including my favorite Spaghetti. According to consumer survey findings, most Americans do not feel confident about adding pasta to their day, but I am here to tell you that YES YOU CAN!

Don’t let the fear of carbs get in the way of enjoying delicious pasta. Make it pretty, add veggies, add sauce and have some fun in the kitchen. Your tastebuds will enjoy it!
